SAP and SaaS

SAP has been busy acquiring companies in its development of a Software as a service Strategy. In addition, SAP have hired John Wookey, who was previously head of application development at Oracle showing that SAP is committed to developing SaaS for large companies.

This week, SAP have confirmed that all of their on demand applications will be designed as extensions of Business Suite, rather than developing software services that compete directly as independent SaaS applications such as salesforce.com.

The first products will be available in the third quarter of this year.
